"Veil"
directed by Dustin Jefferis
written by Aaron Shakra

Veil is a short film, based off our other, longer, as yet-unproduced screenplay Idle Rebellion. We filmed over the course of August 2002 in Eugene, Oregon. We shot in 16x9 high definition widescreen using a Canon X-L1 digital camera and its built-in microphone. Our budget was about $100; we had no permits. Rebecca Shelley helped us with makeup during two days of shooting.

Post-production of "Veil" wrapped in late 2002. Chris Owen, an Eugene-based electronic musician/composer, created an original score for the film. We are currently investigating options to release the film on DVD and make it available free of charge on this web site. A full screenplay will be posted shortly. The first public screening for "Veil" occured on Valentines Day, 2003 @ My House, an indie-venue that's since closed. This was an interesting experience. Our film was part of a "love/hate" themed screening. Unfortunately, the film hardly fits these categories. The idea was to screen the film anonymously to gauge audience reaction, and I took steps to inform the curator of the event of this intention, but he promptly ignored my request, and not only that, didn't even mention Dustin's name. I would say the effect of the film on the audience was bewilderment. Dustin made attempts to get space @ Lane Community College for an official premiere, but continued bureaucracy (perhaps connected to their massive budget cuts?) made this option impossible.
